Plant-based proteins satisfy requirements for those with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and offer other health benefits, compared with animal-based proteins, according to a publication in the Journal of Renal Nutrition. The authors stress that plant-based diets offer protection against high blood pressure, hyperphosphatemia, and other conditions.
